World's Slowest Eater

Darcy and I have eaten our dinner (even went back for seconds) and Evie is still eating!

At the Doc ... Again

Darcy has a pretty bad cough we are getting checked out at the pediatrician today. Fingers crossed it's not another ear infection ...

Update: Darcy has a bad chest cold so the doctor put her on nebulizer treatments for the next few days to help break it up. Not much fun, but it does seem to be helping her.

Ballerina Princess Pajamas

One of the fun parts about having two girls is dressing them up in matching outfits. Evie calls these pajamas "ballerina princess pajamas," usually followed by a little dance. (Thanks to Grammy for finding these for the girls.)

First Visit to Cracker Barrel

Darcy and I had dinner at Cracker Barrel this evening as we have both grown tired of fast food on this little road trip. This was her first trip to this American road trip staple and we both enjoyed browsing through the merchandise in the store. We shared meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, fried apples and biscuits. (Darcy really only liked the mashed potatoes, apples and biscuits; everything else was promptly spit out onto the floor!)

Straw

Darcy is learning to drink from a straw, which is nice when we're out and about and forget a sippy cup (like tonight).

Goodbye to My Childhood Home

My parents officially closed on the sale of my childhood home today. It was a bittersweet event. None of us have really lived there for years now (even my parents), but all four of us were raised there and it has always been the house I referred to as "home." It is strange to think that I will never set foot inside again and that another family will be eating dinner and watching TV and swimming and sleeping in "our" house. Goodbye house. You served the Kornegays well!

This Bear

Was left at the door of my room by one of the kitties (my guess is Susie). Glad to see even my kitties are 'Nole fans!

Tongue

Darcy has started sticking her tongue out when she is concentrating. This is totally a trait she inherited from Blake as he is always doing this. It's nice to know that even though she looks just like me, there is some of him in there!

Freezer Cooking

For a while now, my sister has used this website, www.onceamonthmom.com, for meals that she can cook ahead of time and freeze. They have menus for every lifestyle, including whole foods and vegetarian. Most of the menus are for a full month of meals, but they also have "mini" menus that have 5 or 10 recipes. They give you a printable shopping list with everything you'll need to make all the recipes and instructions on the order in which to prepare the meals. It's really pretty awesome.

Anyway, this weekend was my first foray into using this website (I've done plenty of cook-ahead meals in the past, just using my own recipes). In about three hours (not including the hour I spent yesterday browning meat and chopping vegetables), I made five dinners to stick in the freezer for use later on: Sausage Stuffed Loaf, Southwestern Stuffed Peppers, Pecan Crusted Chicken, Crock Pot Chicken Enchilada Soup and Cheddar Ranch Burgers. Will let you know how they taste (and go over with the girls) ...

You Are My Sunshine

Evie's day care had their spring concert this evening. Her class sang, "You Are My Sunshine," which was so adorable.

Have you ever seen an oak tree on wheels?

Now you have. (The University is saving and transplanting this 65 foot oak tree today to make room for a new athletics facility. Probably one of the coolest things I've seen lately.)

Mother's Day 2012

For Mother's Day this year, we all (us and Ken, Tiffany and Lucas) gathered at Dan and Dorene's house. We ate, drank, went swimming and generally had a good time. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Cake

Darcy has enjoyed having leftover birthday cake the past two nights. She eats with such gusto, such a departure from her sister. Can you guess where we're headed next?

31

I turned 31 today. I took the day off of work and got a massage and mani/pedi. We had this yummy chocolate cake after supper (thanks Dorene for getting this for me). Evie sang me Happy Birthday before we dug in. Happy birthday to me!

Comfort Food

Today has been a stressful day so I am indulging myself with some milk and cookies. Ahh. Feel better already!

I Repeat ...

Who needs toys?

Today we bought a new microwave, which made Mommy happy. What made the girls happy? Playing in the box the microwave came in. Oh, to be a kid again.

Who needs toys ...

When you have packing materials!

(And yes, Darcy gave herself a plumber's crack pulling on her diaper. Sigh.)

Arsenal

So apparently Darcy's last ear infection never cleared up so she is back on antibiotics and also an antihistamine. She also has a diaper rash caused by yeast so is now on a prescription diaper cream to clear that up. My poor girl. I sure hope we can conquer the ear infection this go round.
