3. My car battery died so we spent a large chunk of the evening dealing with that.

Up Next

Friday night I finished Dark Places, which was creepy and twisted and so good! Now I'm starting The Growth Trilogy by Booth Tarkington, beginning with The Turmoil. The second book in the series is on the Modern Library's list of 100 Greatest Novels, but of course I can't just read the middle book. This is also my first foray into reading a book on the Kindle app on my iPad so we'll see how that goes. The books were free so I can always pick up a copy at the library if I don't like it.

Pumpkin Festival 2013

We had a great time today at the Pumpkin Festival, which has become an annual tradition for us since moving to the Tampa area. It was ridiculously hot for mid-October so that wasn't much fun, but the heat gave us a great excuse to drink more fresh squeezed lemonade and eat ice cream. The kids enjoyed all the activities, but most especially the carnival games (not pictured) and pony rides. This was Darcy's very first pony ride and she loved it.

This one has been under the weather this week so it was so nice to see her feelng better and up for a tricycle ride this evening. Special thanks to Grammy for taking such good care of my baby so I could go to work!

Family Literacy Night

Tonight Evie and I went to Family Literacy Night at her school to learn some fun activities I can do with her at home to help her learn to read. The best part was getting to spend some time with her one-on-one and seeing her in her school environment. We even won the door prize, which was eight new books from Scholastic!

I took the girls to the mall today to get hair cuts. While we were waiting for their turn, I let them play in the little play area, which they always enjoy.

So Grown Up

Lately Evie has been asserting her independence, picking out her outfit and dressing herself. Tonight she went upstairs and brushed her own teeth and picked out the books she wanted me to read to her, a first. I am loving this and not loving this all at the same time. Loving it because it is less work for me, but not loving that my baby is getting so grown up. Soon she won't need me at all!

I wasn't feeling well today so spent much of the day in my PJs watching TV. The girls both had a good day and Darcy brought home this blinged out ghost from day care. My girls do love their sparkles.

Happy Birthday, Pops!

Today is Blake's dad's birthday so we spent the afternoon at Grammy and Pops' house to celebrate. We got in the pool for what might be the last swim of the season as even though it is still warm, the water temp has started to drop. Grammy gave each of the grand babies a Halloween goody bag with novelty glasses and candy, including these fun lollipops. Happy birthday, Pops!

Faking Fall

Given the high today was in the mid-80s, it still feels pretty summery around here. So I busted out my gingerbread wood wick candle this evening to fake fall. Hopefully it will actually feel like fall soon!
