Tomato Picking with Grammy

Grammy and I took the girls to a u-pick tomato field today and got a 5-gallon bucket of tomatoes for $10. The weather has been beautiful the last couple of days so it was nice to get out and enjoy what is possibly the last of the cooler weather we'll have for the summer. Now we just have to figure out what to do with all these tomatoes. Any suggestions on how to eat/preserve them?

Breakfast in Bed for the Birthday Girl

Today is Kiley's birthday and in the interest of modesty, I won't tell you how old she is. She's 33!! 

I made her breakfast in bed and let her watch a movie while the kids played outside.  Of course the meal wasn't as fancy as the photo above.  She got apples, Krispy Kreme, scrambled eggs and coffee.  Still it was a nice relaxing morning.  

And now she's off to the spa to be pampered... 

Push pops and a movie

Grammy gave the girls a lollipop and Evie earned a movie by doing her chores this week.  They had the whole living room to sit but chose to "share" the same cushion.

Star Wars

Here the girls are getting started in watching their first Star Wars movie!!  Can you feel the excitement?

Darcy may have been a little too young for this.  She put her blanket over her head for some of the louder parts.

But eventually they were laughing and playing.  Both girls really liked it!  "I want another one." Evie said.

Some of the funny things the girls said during Star Wars:

"There's a lot of gun shooting in this one."

Evie: "I think they're going to eat R2D2" (about the jawas)

Darcy: "Do they have a lellow lightsaber?

Who's IN Darf Vader?

Is Princess Leia gonna grow up?

Is the whole town made out of sand? (about Tatooine)

Are they in the squeezer thing? (about the trash compactor)

Darcy: "Daddy, that's Doby Dan Denobi!  Like Evie's school.  He goes to Doby too."

"The bad guys are trying to zap the good guys.  They're tired of the good guys."

Evie: "Daddy, I think this one takes place in space."

Evie: "Why doesn't Chewbacca get a medal?  There's nothing wrong with him, Daddy." (about Chewie's lack of medal at the end).  

May the 4th Be With You

Today is May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day.  So in honor of the "holiday" we will be showing the girls the Star Wars movies all day.  After much deliberation and agonizing, we decided on showing the movies to them in release order starting with the original 1977 Star Wars.

They are about to take their first step into a larger world....

Little Picassos

It was a rainy day today so we were cooped up inside all day. After two movies the girls were going a little stir crazy so we busted out the paint supplies. Needless to say, they enjoyed this activity immensely.
