A New Take On An Old Favorite

Trip to Hiram/Cartersville

My brother Keith got married on June 6 in Cartersville, Georgia, so Evie and I made the trip up to attend. We stayed with my sister Kim and her family in Hiram and just enjoyed hanging out with the entire Kornegay clan for a couple of days.

L to R: My sister Christie, my mother , Evie and my brother all decked out for his wedding.

At play with Jacob.

Sweet picture of Chloe and Evie. Chloe was Evie's second mommy while we were visiting.

10 Months

Evie turned 10 months old on May 31st! I can hardly believe how fast the time is going. She's now pulling up on everything in sight and "cruising" around to get to where she needs to go. If there is no furniture available, she's gotten quite efficient at crawling, and more often than not these days she is doing a "proper" crawl, though she still will revert to the army crawl if that will get her where she wants to go faster. She's eating a wide variety of foods now, and we're working to transition her to more table foods. She's also learning how to drink from a sippy cup, as I'd like to wean her to a cup, rather than a bottle. She's still sleeping through the night (crosses fingers) and has started to sleep until closer to 6 a.m. or after (YAY!). She's curious about everything and Blake and I are just loving watching her explore the world!

Play Date

On May 30th, my friend Rachel and her son Jonathan came over for lunch and to play. I met Rachel at the breastfeeding support group I attended while I was on maternity leave, and it has been hard for us to meet up since both of us have gone back to work. Jonathan was born in the same hospital as Evie less than 12 hours after she was born so they are right at the same stage developmentally. It was fun to watch the babies play and learn from each other and to catch up with Rachel and commiserate about the joys and trials of breastfeeding!

Jonathan was very interested in Calvin; Calvin not so interested in Jonathan!

Apalachicola 5.22-24.09

For Memorial Day weekend, we packed up and headed two hours down the coast to Apalachicola. The first day we were there it rained all day so all we did was go to Boss Oyster for some yummy seafood and hung around the very nice condo we rented. On Saturday, the weather cleared up a bit so we made the trip 5 minutes down the road to St. George Island. This marked Evie's first trip to the beach! It was extremely windy and the surf was pretty rough so we stayed out of the water. After that, we spent the afternoon window shopping in downtown Apalachicola. We headed home the next day. A quick trip, but altogether a very relaxing weekend!

Trying to keep Evie from eating the sand.

Excited to see the waves and feel the wind in her hair (what little she has)!
Crazy wind = crazy hair!

Evie loved her first visit to the beach!
