When I went up to tuck Evie in tonight, she was putting on Darcy's sleep sack. She got this total caught red handed look on her face, even though I don't really care if she plays with it.

Flowers from my sweet Evie
Evie picked these flowers for me this evening and put them by my sink. I forgot about them until I went to brush my teeth. Made me smile.

Tummy Ache
Evie started complaining of a tummy ache in the tub so when she got out of the tub I gave her a bowl in case she got sick. She has since eaten a yogurt smoothie and set up her tent and filled it with pillows so I think she is feeling better. We shall see ...

Sweet Darcy
Darcy has been a different child since her surgery, so much happier and playful. It is so good to see her feeling good after struggling for so long to get and keep her healthy. And sleeping soundly, too!

Little Miss Chatterbox
Darcy has not only been her usual happy self today, she has been happier. And chatty. I don't know if she's hearing better or just feeling better or both, but she chattered away all day today.
This is her playing "slide off the love seat onto a pile of pillows," a game the girls invented and love to play together.

Model Patient
Darcy had surgery today to remove her adenoids and insert ear tubes. Things could not have gone any better. We arrived at 8:45 a.m. and they did our paper work. After a short wait they called us back and we met with the doctor and anesthesiologist. They went over the procedures one more time, and then I handed over my little baby to these virtual strangers. Hardest part of the whole ordeal.
The whole thing took less than 30 minutes and then we were called back to recovery. The doctor said that even though she has been on an antibiotic for almost a week, her ears were still full of thick, infected gunk. She said that they call that "glue ear" and that when it gets that bad it is hard for the antibiotic to penetrate. In any case, she drained the fluid and put in the tubes and removed her adenoids.
Darcy did great in recovery. Didn't even whimper, just kinda looked around like, "Hey, what's up?" She was a little out of it on the way home. She had a cup of juice when we got her home and then a banana and some yogurt. She took a four hour nap and perked up tremendously after that.
We still have a few days of various medications and a couple weeks until her adenoid surgery site is completely healed, but the worst is definitely behind us. So relieved to have the surgery over with and hoping for a much healthier, happier little girl in the coming months!

Happy birthday, Ken!
We went over to St. Pete Beach today to have lunch with Ken to celebrate his birthday. Yummy seafood at The Wharf and these three sweeties for company!

First Official Hair Cut
While I have trimmed Darcy's bangs before, today she got her first official hair cut. She was so good and sat very still. I think her favorite part was the lollipop afterwards.

She Sleeps
This one put up a valiant effort to stay up past her bedtime this evening (took me an hour and a half to watch Mad Men because of the interruptions). She finally gave it up about 9:30 and zonked out.

ABCs and 123s
I pulled out our bath letters and numbers tonight and the girls had a blast sticking them to the wall.

At the ENT Specialist
I took Darcy to the ear, nose and throat specialist this morning, where she was diagnosed with yet another double ear infection. Given Darcy's history, she recommended we have ear tubes inserted and remove her adenoids. So it looks like this one will be having some surgery in the next couple weeks.

Dedication
I got to hear a retired four star Army general speak today at the dedication of a building being named in his honor at UT, the General Peter J. Schoomaker ROTC and Athletics Building. Two of UT's three Medal of Honor recipients were also in attendance. It was a fun way to end the day.

Doughnuts
We don't get doughnuts very often so when we do, the girls eat them with gusto. It's like dessert for breakfast.

Warming Up
Lately after bath, Darcy has liked to curl up on the little bath mat until she has dried off and is ready to put on her jammies.
Side note: thank you to Grammy and Pops for keeping the girls last night to give Mommy a night off. MUCH appreciated!

The Best Part
Grammy sent Darcy home with Oreo cookies tonight. As little as she is, she knows the best part of an Oreo is the filling. She will twist open a whole pack and eat just the filling if you let her!

Random
Hangers in the dining room, Leap Pad in the master bath, Minnie in the closet. Having little ones in the house means you never know what you're going to find where!

Crossed Ankles
I love that the girls feet barely reach the end of the recliner cushion and that they both cross their legs at the ankles when they sit like this. So cute.

Princesses or Not Princesses
Today, Evie played activities from the Knights and Princesses Activity Pack Aunt Kim gave the girls for Christmas, including Princess or Not Princess. I was very impressed with her cutting skills and she enjoyed using the glue stick.

Doin' the Chop
Evie was playing with one of her FSU bears this evening that plays the Warchant. Of course we had to practice doing the chop!
